Public records part is the one you'd rather have blank. Something like " ***NONE*** " is the best case scenario. That is where bankruptcies, outstanding judgments and tax liens are found. Not a good stuff to have on your report.
This particular example shows that you had Charter 7 Bankruptcy filed in July of 1998 in Raleigh, North Carolina. It is recorded under number 33333333. Its source is TransUnion and other two agencies more than likely will show this as well.
The good news are:
- it was completely discharged as 11/98
- you don't owe anything
- since it was more than 2 years ago, you can actually get a mortgage
As a rule of thumb, you have to satisfy all the things recorded against you in this all important part of credit report before you can get a mortgage. That is especially true when it comes to tax liens and judgments brought by former landlords.
